New Chrome Extension: Build your Wishlists Faster Than Ever

First, Why An Extension?

GiftHub is currently usable by copying and pasting urls into the app directly, and you can still use it that way. But sometimes it's a pain to have two tabs open or maybe you're shopping and don't think to add the item to your wishlist. The extension isn't required, but it does make things faster and simpler.

Here's how to get started.

Step 1: Install the extension

The extension is a chrome extension, so you'll only find it if you're using a chromium-based browser like chrome, brave or edge. Head over to the GiftHub Extension page on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. The extension should install almost instantly.

Once installed, the GiftHub icon will appear in your Chrome toolbar. If you don't see it, click the puzzle-piece icon in the top-right of Chrome and pin GiftHub so it's always one click away.

Step 2: Sign in

The extension needs to know which GiftHub account to add items to, so the first time you click the icon, it'll handle authentication for you. Here's how it works:

• If you've used GiftHub on this device before: a GiftHub tab opens, recognizes your existing cookie, signs you in instantly, and closes itself. The whole thing takes about a second. You'll barely see it happen.
• If this is a fresh browser or new device: the same tab opens and prompts you to log in normally. After you sign in, it closes itself and you're set.

Either way, it's a one-time step. From here on, you can capture items without thinking about login.

Step 3: Save your items to your GiftHub!

This is where the extension comes into play. Browse to a product you want to add to a wishlist—it can be Amazon, Target, Etsy, or any random online store. As long as it has a URL, GiftHub can save it.

Click the GiftHub icon. A small popup appears with two fields:

1. Item name — type whatever makes sense to you. "Cast-iron pan" is fine. "The blue Hydro Flask, 32oz" is also fine.
2. List — pick which of your wishlists to add it to (My Birthday, Christmas Ideas, Kitchen Stuff—whatever you've set up).

Click Save. The item is added to your list immediately. You don't even need to open the app.
